Pickleballer in the 808: SANDRA WOO
Pickleballer in the 808 Sandra Woo
Honolulu—A few months ago, I played some of my worst games ever. The net seemed 10 feet high the way I was playing. I played bad and I looked bad…basically, a hot mess. And I was pretty grumpy about it all.
And then, there are the others, who always seem to have it together.
Cool, poised, and unruffled…which aptly describes Pickleballer in the 808, Sandra Woo.
PB808 is really lucky to have amazing ambassadors, and Sandra is a perfect example. She’s a competitor on-court, looks put together and sophisticated always, yet is as kind and generous as your BFF. In other words, she looks good while kicking your butt and is nice about it!
She’s always willing to pitch in, to lend a hand, and to be of service.
Without further ado, please meet Pickleballer in the 808 Sandra Woo!

Where did you grow up and what HS did you go to?
I grew up in Honolulu and attended Moanalua High School.
How did you discover pickleball and when did you start playing?
I had never heard of pickleball until my friend, an avid tennis player, introduced me. She took me to Kamiloiki park one morning and gave me my first lesson. From that first time I was hooked.
My husband got us a pickleball net for our anniversary gift and I introduced him to it. Shortly after, I began playing regularly as much as possible. It's been almost two years.
What do you love most about PB?
I love that pickleball allows me a way to exert my competitive energy, get exercise I enjoy doing and also make new friends of all ages and walks of life.

What do you do outside of pickleball (hobbies, work, school, etc)?
We love to travel with our family (two adult sons, a fiancé and girlfriend). I sometimes like to "try" and play golf.
What paddle are you playing with?
Engage Pursuit EX 6.0 Pro
How often do you play?
6-7 days a week.
What is the next goal you’re working toward (in pickleball or otherwise)?
I'm currently working with my Coach on leveling up my game and overall performance which includes incorporating strength, speed, and balance training. I'm pretty serious about my growth and am embracing it.
Anything else on your mind?
Recently had a great time volunteering at the Junior Pickleball Jam tournament put on by OPA and Chillaxin at Diamond Head. So wonderful to see young and older juniors having fun and watching the rising talent competing in pickeball!
