“Pickleball Friends” from L-R: Erica, Arlene, Norine, Kayla, me, Miki, photo bomber, Kip and Coach Yoshi.
The core values that guide me as I build Pickleball 808: aloha, inclusivity and kaizen (continuous improvement).
Who we are + our values
I’m pretty new to pickleball, but as I’m sure you understand, I got hooked and went from Stage 1 to Stage 5 in the Stages of Pickleball in four months, tops.
Who knew it’d be so easy to get addicted to a sport that takes place on a mini tennis court with a small paddle and a wiffle ball?
I bet once you started, you couldn’t wait to get back out on the courts, because this sport is for anyone and everyone; athletes, couch potatoes, seniors, kids, and everyone in between.
There’s no barrier to get started, yet there’s a high enough ceiling to keep even the most athletic peeps engaged (and also addicted).
But at the end of the day, it’s all about the people and the community.
Pickleball people who invite you to play when you’re brand new. Peeps who say nice stuff (and mean it!) when you swing at the ball and completely miss. The ones who arrive early to set up the nets and then let everyone else play while they watch, and who smile and tell you it’s no big deal when your son and his friends launch several of their pickleballs on top of the roof at the Ala Moana courts.
This community is beyond description…I know you know what I mean.
Every day heroes and leaders are right there at your neighborhood courts, and we’re dedicated to celebrating them and you, to building community with aloha, and to bring you all the things to help you live your best pickleball life.
