Pickleballer in the 808: RAYMUND MARAVILLA
Pickleballer in the 808 Raymund Maravilla
Honolulu—It’s always inspiring to meet people who make a living doing what they love.
I was introduced to Raymund Maravilla because he’s the owner and designer of the All Good Pickleball brand of clothing and accessories. When we met in person, we chatted about his design aesthetic; bright, neon, and happy—designs that will for sure get you noticed on and off the court!
Raymund is a full-time artist, and when he began playing pickleball, he decided to meld the two—art and pickleball, and All Good Pickleball was born. What fun!
So, without further ado, please meet Pickleballer in the 808 Raymund Maravilla!

Where did you grow up and where did you go to high school?
I was born in California but raised in New York. I went to Wagner High School on Staten Island, NY.
How did you discover pickleball and when did you start playing?
I used to love playing ping pong decades ago with my cousin. He told me about pickleball probably sometime in 2020.
But I wrongfully wrote it off as “a game for the elderly.” On July 27, 2021, I finally picked up a set of used paddles on Craigslist and gave it a shot.
I’ve been addicted ever since.
How did All Good Pickleball come about?
I’ve always loved to draw as a kid and I also went to art college in New York for Illustration so art has always been a part of my life.
Once I found pickleball, I wanted to find a way to combine the two. Many of the designs I saw were playful, but heavy on the puns. I wanted to bring a fresh new look to this growing sport that I loved so much.
The dream that ignited it all was to someday see others wearing my designs on the courts.
We chatted about this offline, about how your designs are really resonant for me, as they seem to be 80’s inspired. Tell us about the inspiration for All Good Pickleball and what drives your design philosophy for the brand.
I was born in the 80s, so that has naturally become a huge inspiration, especially with the resurgence of trends from that era.
From loud colors to bubble letters akin to graffiti, it just brought me back to my childhood. I never actually did graffiti because, as a good catholic second generation Filipino American, I was afraid of getting in trouble. But I was often asked to write my classmates’ names on paper for them to hang in their rooms and such.
Ultimately, I wanted to create a fun, nostalgic aesthetic that could appeal to people of all ages, from those that actually lived through the 80s to the next generation of kids that have come to embrace that style.
What do you do outside of pickleball (work, school, hobbies, etc)?
When I’m not on the courts, I can be found coworking at a cafe in Honolulu. During the pandemic I shifted away from the advertising world to focus more on my own personal art. I still very much love to draw so my iPad is often all I need in tow to create some new work.
What do you love most about pickleball?
I love the community!
I’ve met so many great people from all different walks of life. It’s become almost like a healthy version of “Fight Club,” except the rule is that we can’t stop talking about it. And because of the structure of the game, I can have fun playing anyone regardless of skill level, from ultra beginners who have never played any kind of racket sport to D1 college tennis converts.
What paddle are you currently playing with?
Legacy Pro — I became the local Hawaii ambassador for them a couple of years ago and still love the paddle.

How often do you play?
Like once a month. Haha. Nah, I did scale it back a bunch though. I used to play over 40 hours a week!
Now it’s closer to 15 if I’m lucky.
Anything else on your mind?
I’d love to grow the sport, grow the brand and continue to grow as an artist. Lately, I’ve been designing logos for friends and looking into collaborations with other brands. It would be nice to get back into mural work too!
If you would like to partner up on or off the court, hit me up!
