HONOLULU—The day finally arrived when permanent, dedicated pickleball courts opened on O’ahu.
On July 17, 2023, twelve pickleball courts opened to the public, all with permanent court lines and nets.
Here’s the 411 on these courts:
1 —
Open play hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. everyday
Caveat: the lights aren’t working at the moment.
2 —
Keehi Lagoon parking lot closes at 8:00 p.m.
This shouldn’t be a problem since the lights aren’t working, but just thought you should know.
3 —
There are 12 dedicated courts
All twelve courts have permanently installed nets. Six courts (Courts 7-12) are “hosted” by the Oahu Pickleball Association on Thursdays and Sundays from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. This means there will be someone from OPA facilitating play on Courts 7-12 , but essentially, all twelve courts are available to play on by anyone.

What pickleballers say
Word on the street is that the courts are super nice, but balls from any which way roll into and fly into your court. It gets pretty crowded, but wait times are pretty minimal—five to ten minutes between games.
