O’AHU: K2 Pickleball Veteran’s Day Fundraiser Tournament for the Stray Animals

HONOLULU—The K2 Pickleball Fundraiser tournament was held at Moanalua High School over Veteran’s Day weekend.

Kyle Kaneshiro, who runs K2 Pickleball, noticed that Booty, a male stray cat that frequented the courts at Moanalua High School, was having trouble eating. Kyle caught him and took him to the vet.

The vet advised that Booty’s chance of survival was not good—it was at best 50/50 because of his health issues. HIs blood work numbers were poor and his mouth was severely infected. All of Booty’s teeth needed to be removed.

The happy ending: thanks to Kyle, K2 PIckleball, the entire crew who made the tournament happen, and of course all of the participants—the tournament raised $4125, which was enough for Booty’s dental surgery. The surgery went well, Booty’s blood work returned to a stable number, and he was released!
